Pixelinx

A friend of mine runs a blog called Pixelinx on which he documents his experiences and thoughts on web development. Recently, he invited me to contribute my thoughts on design — which I’ve started doing.

My first post concerns the use of the Place function in Photoshop and Illustrator. This is something I discovered a few months ago and now use on a regular basis, and is something I highly recommend using (or exploring if you’re unfamiliar with it).

The post is here if you fancy having a look. Do also have a read and see what Adam has to say — most of it is beyond my design knowledge but don’t let that ruin your enjoyment!

Mario

I know this sort of thing has been done to death, but I enjoy wasting office supplies too, you know.

Not only were 138 Post-it notes harmed in the making of this, but I also wore down one black white board marker (the red one is doing just fine).

Toad’s Mouth Productions

Logo I did for a friend who does the whole film production thing.

Although he wanted it green on white I thought I’d supply a selection of colour treatments, mostly for my own amusement, but also so he could see what it might look like if it was ever to appear on a colour.

Beware the Hoodie

Pen & ink mock up of the urban hoodie. Fear not, for they are just kids really; a hoodie is just a jumper!

‘Tis the season

A couple of years ago I ended up doing some bits for the digital department Christmas party. One of the things I had to design was the free drink tokens.

I know, I know, it’s not very Christmassy but I’m a grouch; and yes, the party is James Bond themed. I also designed the email newsletter for this and went for a sexy red & black grunge theme, so it only seemed right to run with it for all the design.

I could’ve potentially printed loads of these out myself, but I managed to get good and drunk without being a massive cheap-arse!
